In the continuous quest for enhanced safety, efficiency, reliability
and overall performance – in racing, and everyday riding or driving
– braking systems have become increasingly complex. The basic
principles of applying friction remain pretty much the same, but the
rate of technological advance can make choosing the right braking
systems and components, and looking after them, a bit confusing.
With that in mind, here’s a basic overview of modern hydraulic braking
systems, so some of the tech spec on our website makes more sense. It won’t
make you an expert overnight, but it might make modern braking less of a
mystery.
